Training Summary

Energy security and sustainability are the key challenges facing enterprises and policy makers across the globe. Prudent management of energy allows enterprises to abide by the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulation 2008 and to support the commitment by The Honorary Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia to contribute to a greener world by reducing the carbon emission intensity by 40% by the year 2020. AEMAS Workshop on Energy manager Certification is recognized by the Malaysia Energy Commission.

This course also help participant to establish and implement a sustainable energy management system in the enterprise, in compliance with the ISO 50001 standard, and in preparation for AEMAS Energy Management Gold Standard certification. The course is taught by certified energy managers who are also certified trainers from industry and from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and are among those who have successfully implemented the Sustainable Energy Management System. Course Objective

For the Energy Manager Trainees

    1. Understand the context of energy use in Malaysia and the world as well as local laws and regulations, which help business to proactively prepare for the energy management and to comply with the law.
    2. Ability to establish and implement a sustainable energy management system in the enterprise, in compliance with the ISO 50001 standard, and in preparation for Energy.
    3. Management Gold Standard certification.
    4. Improve professional standing with a certificate validated in 10 ASEAN countries.
    5. Provide employment opportunities through a network of ASEAN Energy Management Scheme in ten ASEAN countries.

Pre-requisites for Participants

    1. Age above 21 years old with proficient in English.

Trainer Profile

PROF IR TS DR ZAINUDDIN ABDUL MANAN
Dr Zainuddin Abdul Manan completed over 100 R&D & consultancy projects serving local and multinational companies and is currently the chair of the EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act) Thermal Energy drafting committee under the Malaysian Ministry of Energy. He founded and spearheaded the UTM Sustainable Energy Management initiative that led UTM to achieve more than USD 6 million energy savings between 2011 and 2019, and to win the ASEAN Energy Award in 2012.
PROF IR DR SHARIFAH RAFIDAH WAN ALWI
Prof Ir Dr Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi was previously the Director of Process Systems Engineering Centre of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Prof. Sharifah has been extensively involved in 66 research projects, 23 industrial based projects for various companies and government agencies and has trained engineers from more than 300 companies in the field of sustainable engineering design and management. She specialises in process systems engineering with emphasis on process integration and resource conservation. She is currently the Associate Editor for Journal of Cleaner Production (Q1) and Editorial Board member for Applied Thermal Engineering Journal (Q1). She has filed 15 patents, 25 copyrights and developed 5 software products.
IR DR LIM JENG SHIUN
Ir Dr Lim Jeng Shiun core expertise is in the area of innovative development and application of process systems engineering techniques for resource conservation, and for energy and carbon planning. He is also a professionally Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Accredited Energy Measurement & Verification Professional and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager certified by Energy Commission of Malaysia. The key clients include local industries and multinational companies such as BERNAS, FABER MEDISERVE, SHELL, OLEON in Malaysia and PERTAMINA in Indonesia.
IR AL-KHAIRI MOHD DAUD
Ir. Al-Khairi is a professional mechanical engineer with 30+ years experiences spanning various sectors. From gas process plant, oleochemicals to high-end R&D and medical centre facilities. He is one of the AEMAS Certified Trainers for the Energy Manager Training Course (EMTC) as well as the trainer for competent and authorized person for medical gas system. Currently, Ir Al-Khairi is the Chief Consultant for Faqeh Management which specializing in asset, reliability, maintenance and energy management. Ir Al-Khairi is the advisor for Oil, Gas and Mining Technical Division for Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and a surveyor with Malaysian Society for Quality in Healthcare.
PROF IR DR MOHAMMAD YUSRI HASSAN
Prof. lr. Dr. Mohammad Yusri Hassan is a Professor at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He is the Director of Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES), UTM. He has wide experiences in the area of energy consultancy. He is also a Working Group Member of Energy Efficiency of SIRIM and member of SIRIM Technical Committee on Energy Management. He is a Certified Energy Manager under ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS) and Registered Electrical Energy Manager under Energy Commission, Malaysia.
