Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn Bhd (OPTIMISE) recently delivered an in-house workshop for Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of climate risks, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The workshop highlighted why climate change matters for financial stability and operational resilience, with sessions structured around IFRS S2 and TCFD-aligned disclosures. Participants explored physical risks such as floods, heatwaves, and higher cooling demand, alongside transition risks from new carbon policies, technology shifts, and reputational pressures. Practical steps for measuring Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions were introduced, together with international case studies from central banks that have advanced in disclosure practices. The facilitators also guided participants on setting science-based targets, including aligning with the 1.5°C pathway through a 4.2% annual emissions reduction benchmark.
Feedback from participants underscored the value of the program:
“The facilitators were really knowledgeable and able to share relevant information related to the subject matter that makes it really easy to comprehend and tie back to relevant challenges faced by participants.”
“Very knowledgeable and helpful facilitators who are passionate in educating others on climate risk.”
“The knowledge shared was good. I did not understand how I can contribute or calculate, but now, generally I can.”
This training reflects OPTIMISE’s commitment to empowering organisations with the knowledge and tools needed to embed sustainability into decision-making and to advance climate risk management in alignment with international best practices.
Building on this momentum, OPTIMISE is proud to announce its upcoming workshops designed to equip professionals and organisations with the latest expertise in energy and sustainability management:
