3rd October 2025
Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn Bhd (OPTIMISE) recently conducted an in-house Registered Energy Manager (REM) – Type 1 Workshop for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
The five-day program, held from 29 September to 3 October 2025 at TNB Integrated Learning Solution (ILSAS) in Bangi, was organised in collaboration with TNB ILSAS and designed to build internal capacity in energy management, regulatory compliance, and sustainable operations.
The workshop equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to meet the requirements of Malaysia’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA 2024) for facilities with annual energy consumption between 21,600 GJ and 50,000 GJ. Structured across five days, the training covered a comprehensive range of modules including governance of Malaysia’s energy sector, key legislative frameworks, fundamentals of energy management, energy audit practices, and the implementation of Energy Management Systems (EnMS) using the PDCA cycle.
Technical sessions focused on identifying and implementing Energy Saving Measures (ESM) for lighting systems, compressed air, air conditioning, motors, pumps, and fans. Participants also undertook a certification examination and individual project presentations to demonstrate their readiness to qualify as REM Type 1 professionals under the Energy Commission’s requirements.
The workshop was delivered by a distinguished panel of trainers comprising professors, professional engineers, and certified energy managers with extensive experience in energy optimisation and policy development. Collectively, the facilitators have trained over 500 organisations globally and contributed to national energy initiatives that have achieved significant energy savings.
This program reflects OPTIMISE’s ongoing commitment to empowering organisations with the knowledge, tools, and certifications needed to advance energy efficiency and sustainability in line with Malaysia’s regulatory landscape.
