From Emissions to Action: In-House GHG & PCF Workshop 3

From 18 – 20 September 2025, Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn Bhd (OPTIMISE) successfully delivered a three-day in-house workshop titled “From Emissions to Impact: Bridging Corporate GHG and Product Carbon Footprint Accounting”, at TIARCO CHEMICAL (M) SDN BHD. The program was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to manage corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and product carbon footprint (PCF) reporting in alignment with international standards.

The workshop covered integrated approaches to energy-emission management, principles and methodologies for quantifying emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, GHG inventory reporting based on ISO 14064, as well as PCF quantification, verification, and reporting aligned with ISO 14067. Practical exercises and case studies were also included to tailor the learning experience to industry scenarios. Delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim Jeng Shiun and Dr. Tan Yue Dian, the sessions provided a balance of technical knowledge, practical exercises, and strategic insights to strengthen corporate sustainability efforts.

The workshop received positive feedback from participants. Comments included:

“The sessions provided actionable frameworks and step-by-step guidance that participants can apply directly in their day-to-day work. Case studies and real-life examples made the complex concepts of GHG reporting and PCF calculations easier to understand.”

“Good overview of a very technical subject matter. The examples provide a good feel of how it would work should we implement this in our company.”

“The course was informative; however, as most are first-time encountering this topic, the speed and information at times was a bit overwhelming.”

“The training was designed based on the industry we are dealing with. The training material can be applied to our current operations.”

A total of 25 participants from diverse sectors attended the workshop, representing Tiarco Chemical (M) Sdn Bhd, Excelkos Sdn Bhd, and Excelkos Marketing Sdn Bhd. Attendees included Managing Director, Factory Manager, Production Manager, Technical Manager, and Senior Operations Manager, along with other key functional roles in Quality & Regulatory, Chemistry, Engineering, ESH, Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Purchasing, Accounts, and Administration.

This initiative highlights Tiarco Chemical’s commitment to strengthening sustainability practices and advancing its path toward net-zero goals. The knowledge gained will help participating companies integrate carbon management into their operational and strategic decisions, ensuring stronger compliance, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.

Building on this momentum, Optimal Systems Engineering is proud to announce our upcoming workshops designed to equip professionals and organisations with the latest expertise in energy and sustainability management:
