Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn Bhd proudly announces the successful completion of the 5-Day Registered Energy Manager (REM) Type 2 Workshop and the 3-Day Industrial Thermal Energy Audit & Analysis (ITEA) Workshop, held recently in Cyberview Resort & Spa, Cyberjaya. These flagship programs were strategically conducted together to deliver a comprehensive and integrated training experience, combining regulatory knowledge, strategic energy management, and advanced technical auditing skills. Both workshops were designed to support the implementation of Malaysia’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) by equipping professionals to manage high-energy-consuming facilities effectively.
The workshops brought together participants from a diverse range of sectors, including manufacturing and industrial, chemical and petrochemical, energy and utilities, renewable energy and sustainable solutions, marine and heavy engineering, as well as education and research institutions. This strong cross-sector participation reflects a growing national commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability, while also providing a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and professional networking among key industry players.
The REM Type 2 program focused on advanced energy governance, energy-saving measures, and thermal system management for facilities consuming over 50,000 GJ/year. Participants gained in-depth insights into legislative compliance, energy performance indicators, and thermal energy management, which are key elements for REM Type 2 certification. Meanwhile, the ITEA program offered 24 CDP hours under the mandatory technical category for REM Type 2, equipping participants with systematic methods to conduct detailed thermal energy audits. The course emphasized benchmarking, heat recovery, and process optimization for boilers, steam systems, cogeneration, and other industrial processes to reduce energy costs and emissions.
Both programs were delivered by a distinguished panel of trainers, including Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Zainuddin Abdul Manan, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi, and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim Jeng Shiun. Their extensive industry experience and academic excellence provided participants with a rich and practical learning experience that aligns with Malaysia’s energy efficiency objectives.
Feedback from participants highlighted the strong industry relevance and comprehensive structure of the program. One of the testimonials noted:
“The course content was highly relevant to the industrial context. The topics and syllabus were very comprehensive, with a good balance of theory and calculation.”
This positive response reflects the program’s alignment with industry needs and its practical value in enhancing participants’ professional capabilities.
By integrating REM Type 2 and ITEA programs, participants experienced a holistic, impactful, and industry-relevant training journey that strengthened their capacity to lead energy efficiency initiatives, improve operational performance, and ensure regulatory compliance. This successful program underscores Optimal Systems Engineering’s commitment to supporting Malaysian industries in achieving energy efficiency excellence and sustainability leadership.
