Driving Compliance and Energy Efficiency: Highlights from the EECA 2024 Workshop 3

On 17 September 2025, Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn. Bhd. successfully conducted an online workshop on the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024 and its implications for organisations. Held via Microsoft Teams from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, the event brought together 40 participants from diverse sectors, from among industry across Malaysia.

As an added benefit, participants earned 8 Mandatory CDP hours accredited by the Energy Commission, fulfilling a key requirement for Registered Energy Managers (REMs) and other energy professionals. With the EECA 2024 enforcement timeline fast approaching, the workshop provided critical guidance on the key provisions of the Act and what companies need to do to comply, regulations and guidelines for energy consumers and building owners, the compliance timeline and seven essential preparation steps, penalties for non-compliance, as well as requirements related to Registered Energy Managers (REMs) and Registered Energy Auditors (REAs). Participants also benefited from an interactive, real-time Q&A session, where they engaged with expert speakers Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim Jeng Shiun to explore practical, real-world scenarios and best practices.

Feedback from the participants highlighted the workshop’s clarity, practicality, and impact. Among their comments:

“This training is very recommended for those who have very little or even zero knowledge on EECA & EECA requirements. It was well summarized, yet elaborated on all the important parts.”

“This course has been very organised and useful in helping me recap and revisit the key points related to the fundamentals of EECA 2024.”

“This course envelopes all the important points in understanding and applying the EECA. It is easy to digest and can be understood even by those not familiar with energy management.”

OPTIMISE extends our sincere thanks to all participants for their active engagement and thoughtful questions throughout the workshop. Special appreciation also goes to our distinguished speakers, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim Jeng Shiun, for delivering yet another impactful session that deepened understanding of the EECA and its implications for organisations.

By the end of the session, participants gained the ability to communicate the business impacts of EECA 2024, identify compliance requirements for their facilities, and strategize organisational preparation for EECA enforcement. The workshop reaffirmed the urgent need for corporate readiness in energy efficiency compliance, highlighting energy conservation not just as a regulatory obligation, but also as a strategic business imperative.

Building on this momentum, Optimal Systems Engineering is proud to announce our upcoming workshops designed to equip professionals and organisations with the latest expertise in energy and sustainability management:
