On 29 January 2026, OPTIMISE successfully conducted a workshop titled “Understanding Energy Efficiency Conservation Act (EECA) and Its Impact on Organisations” for PETRONAS Penapisan (Terengganu) Sdn Bhd. The session brought together 32 participants, including the CEO, senior management, executives, and staff, demonstrating strong organisational commitment to energy efficiency governance and regulatory readiness.
As an added benefit, participants earned 8 Mandatory CPD hours accredited by the Energy Commission, supporting professional requirements for Registered Energy Managers (REMs) and other energy practitioners.
Preparing Organisations for EECA 2024 Enforcement
With the EECA 2024 enforcement timeline fast approaching, the workshop provided timely guidance on the key provisions of the Act and what organisations need to do to comply. The session covered:
- Key provisions and implications of EECA 2024
- Regulations and guidelines for energy consumers and building owners
- The compliance timeline and seven essential preparation steps
- Penalties for non-compliance and associated compliance risks
- Requirements related to Registered Energy Managers (REMs) and Registered Energy Auditors (REAs)
Participants benefited from expert sharing by Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Zainuddin Abd Manan and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim Jeng Shiun. The workshop also featured an interactive, real-time Q&A session, where participants engaged with the speakers to explore practical, real-world scenarios and best practices for implementation.

By the end of the workshop, participants strengthened their ability to:
