Overview

The Registered Energy Manager (REM) – Type 1 workshop is a focused 5-day training program designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to achieve REM certification under Malaysia’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA 2024). This certification targets professionals managing facilities with energy consumption between 21,600 GJ/year and 50,000 GJ/year, ensuring that the facilities comply with the regulatory requirements and promote sustainable energy practices.

Outcome

  • Equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to manage energy resources effectively in facilities consuming between 21,600 GJ and 50,000 GJ energy annually.

Prof Ir Ts Dr Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi

Prof Ir Ts Dr Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi is a professor of chemical and energy engineering at UTM, former director of UTM Process Systems Engineering Centre, and co-founder/director of Optimal Systems Engineering. An award-winning expert, she has led resource minimisation innovations and is a certified energy manager, Registered Energy Manager (REM), Registered Energy Auditor (REA) and ASEAN energy manager coach.

Assoc Prof Ir Dr Lim Jeng Shiun

Assoc Prof Ir Dr Lim Jeng Shiun is a research fellow at UTM’s Process Systems Engineering Centre (PROSPECT) and a Stanford-listed World’s Top 2% Scientist. He specialises in process systems engineering for energy and carbon optimisation and is a Chartered Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Registered Energy Manager (REM) and Registered Energy Auditor (REA), and UNIDO-certified expert in industrial thermal energy.

Ir Dr Hayati Abdullah

Ir Dr Hayati Abdullah is a thermodynamics specialist focused on energy management and chiller and air-conditioning systems and their mechanical auxiliaries. Trained in Sweden, she is a Registered Energy Manager (REM), Certified Professional in Measurement and Verification (CPMV), Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate, and Fellow of IEM, with over 25 years’ experience in national energy conservation and auditing projects.
